It takes a lot of work to become familiar with the world's (Even just the United State's) breeds. I'm not even half-way there. Here are some facts about 10 top breeds in the United States.
#1: The QUARTER HORSE:
Quarter Horses are my ALL TIME FAVORITE breed of horse!! With their amazing tempermants, they will work for you and try as hard as they can to do what you ask; (of course other breeds can be this way as well)they are truly America's Horse! Quarter Horses are most widely known for Western Events such as Barrel Racing,Pole Bending,Calf-Roping and such, but nowadays they are starting to be acknowledged as Both English AND Western horses! They are truly great at both, and deserve to be known for EVERYTHING they do!!!

#2: The ARABIAN HORSE:
Arabians are by FAR some of the most Graceful horses that you'll EVER see!! They prance around with beauty flowing from their manes and tails(Hooves and Heads as well!),and prove to you that they really ARE gorgeous!! Arabian Horses usually have high-strung tempermants, but they make great mounts for Intermediate/Beginner,Intermediate,and Advanced Riders!! Arabians are usually ridden English, but are now becoming known as great Western horses as well!! Arabians are such beautiful horses, and all around the world, we know it!

#4: The THOROUGHBRED HORSE:
Yes,we all know that Thoroughbreds are popular for horse racing, but what else do they do, you might ask?? Thoroughbreds are almost strictly English horses,(Awesome hunter jumpers!)BUT,some people have found out that particular Thoroughbreds can go Western as well..TB's (Thoroughbreds) are wonderful at trail riding, and their tempermants vary a lot..They have their good and their bad days!! Most TB's are Bay,Black,Chestnut,or Grey, but they can be other colors as well!! And also remember: Their height ranges from around 14.3hh to almost 18.0hh!! If you're really tall and can't find a horse that fits you,try a Thoroughbred!

#3: The PAINT HORSE:
Paint horses definately talk the talk like they walk the walk!! Most paints(All except for Solid Paints) stay true to their name by being colorful, almost as if they had a paint can splattered all over them!! Paint horses excel in both English AND Western events, and can have either Thoroughbred or Quarter Horse Lineage..Paint horses are here...to paint the world!

#4: The APPALOOSA HORSE:
Every time I think of the Appaloosa Breed of horse....I think of the horses the Indians used..You see them in ALL of your history books, and you know that you wouldn't be here without them....When Louis & Clark discovered the West, you could be almost POSITIVE that the horses they rode on were Appaloosas..With their Strong feet,Calm Tempermants, and determination to last a lifetime..You can get through nearly ANY Obstacle with an Appaloosa...Appaloosas are recently being known as great English horses; normally you'd think of them as great Western horses, but I think they are great at BOTH.One thing to note is that Appaloosas are more Succeptible to E.R.U.( Equine Recurrent Uveitis,"Moon Blindness"..) ; I'll have to research that further to find out why..Appaloosas are GREAT all around horses, and ask one of my friends about her Appy..I'm sure she'd Say...She's Amazing..and "I love her to death".

#5: The MUSTANG HORSE:
When you think of a Mustang,do you think of the car? I,of course, think of the horse. The car RARELY pops into my mind! When I think of the Mustang Horse I normally think of a Wild Horse running across an open plain. Mustangs are often referred to as Wild Horses, but the more correct term is Feral horses. Mustangs first descended from horses brought to the Americas by the Spanish. Today the Mustang population is managed and protected by the Bureau of Land Management. There are many types of Mustangs,a few of which are the Kiger,or Spanish. I don't have a favorite out of all of them. They're all beautiful. Mustangs are known for their Strong Feet, and Willing Attitudes, among many other great things about them. They are VERY smart horses. They go great English and Western, and can be pretty much any height, although most of them are in the 13hh to 14hh range. Mustangs are in a lot of Western events. Talk to a rancher and I bet you they'll have a word or two to say about them. ;)
